Ricoh Recognized as CDP Supplier Engagement Leader for Fourth Consecutive Year
Ricoh has announced it has been selected as one of the Supplier Engagement Leaders for disclosing actionable, high-quality environmental data, the highest score based on the Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) by CDP, a nonprofit organization that runs the leading global disclosure system for environmental impacts. This marks the fourth consecutive selection for Ricoh.
In SER, CDP evaluates organizations in four key areas of the CDP climate change questionnaire related to governance, targets, Scope 3 emissions accounting and supplier engagement, in addition to factoring in the overall CDP climate change performance, and rates them on an eight-point scale of A to D-. Approximately 450 companies were recognized as Supplier Engagement Leaders in 2023.
The latest rating is a recognition of Ricoh's environmental goals and initiatives. With climate change being one of the most critical social issues the international community faces, Ricoh will continue to actively promote energy-saving activities and renewable energy use within its own operations. Through collaboration with business partners and customers, Ricoh will strive to contribute to the creation of a zero-carbon society throughout the entire value chain.
In other news, Ricoh has announced it has received the highest rating of AAA in the MSCI ESG Ratings, a globally recognized benchmark for environmental, social and governance (ESG) investments, in February 2024. Up from the previous AA rating, this is Ricoh's first time to receive an AAA rating based on its high marks in the human capital development and governance categories, as well as significant improvements in the disclosure of all categories.
The MSCI ESG Ratings, conducted by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), assess how well companies manage ESG risks and rate them on a seven-point scale of AAA to CCC according to their exposure to ESG risks and how well they manage those risks relative to peers.
To realize a sustainable society, Ricoh has identified seven material issues in two areas: "Resolving social issues through business" and "Robust management infrastructure," and set 16 ESG targets in linkage with the material to work toward solving these issues.
