PFU Rebrands Document Scanners From Fujitsu to Ricoh
PFU America Inc. has announced the rebranding of its scanners from Fujitsu to Ricoh. Changes will appear on packaging, documentation and printed on the devices; beyond that, it is business as usual for PFU.
PFU has been the driving force behind all ScanSnap- and Fujitsu-brand scanners for the past 20-plus years — licensing the Fujitsu brand name for its fi-series document scanners and earning number-one market share for document scanners in the United States. With the finalization of the share transfer completed in September 2022, Ricoh now owns a majority of PFU Ltd., with Fujitsu Ltd. maintaining a 20% share ownership in the company. The brand changes will mostly impact the fi and SP series, as the Ricoh logo replaces the Fujitsu logo on product, packaging and manuals. ScanSnap will remain the primary brand for consumer and small-business document scanners.
"As the premier edge device provider enabling the future of digital transformation for our customers, we are excited to officially launch our Ricoh-branded scanner portfolio as we integrate into the Ricoh group of companies," said Daisuke Kutsuwada, president and CEO, PFU America Inc. "Beyond the brand change, we will continue to expand our business with our existing channel partners, and in the future, take advantage of technical synergies to strengthen our global capabilities."
The newly rebranded industry-leading Ricoh fi-8000 series and ScanSnap series document scanners feature innovative capabilities to help companies achieve their digital transformation and sustainability goals by improving efficiency of workflows, capturing documents and images in their purest form, and enabling deeper insights through exceptional software and cloud computing. The scanner lineups give small and large organizations unparalleled productivity, featuring tools to digitize, organize and share documents across remote work, education and personal environments – all with the touch of a button.
