Orange County Business Journal Honors Toshiba as a Company That Cares
The Orange County Business Journal has honored Toshiba America Business Solutions one of its 2023 Companies That Cares. The Orange County Business Journal recognizes companies that have gone above and beyond for the Orange County, California, community through philanthropic efforts and accomplishments.
This year, Toshiba continues to volunteer for and provide money and in-kind donations to charities conducting good works across Orange County.
Toshiba Employees Helping Others
- Once a month, Toshiba staff members prepare and enjoy dinner with 25-35 youths at Orangewood Foundation, a nonprofit for foster youth. Year-round, company personnel provide clothing, school supplies and hygiene products to Orangewood Foundation participants. Toshiba additionally helped raise more than $20,000 by generously matching donations for the Orangewood Foundation during the company's September LEAD Beyond event. Toshiba is a 10-year advocate of this impactful nonprofit.
- Toshiba employees deliver gifts to senior and disabled adults through SmileMakers, a program of The Council on Aging Southern California. This year marks the seventh year Toshiba personnel have supported this worthy cause.
- Toshiba is a longtime proponent of Ocean Institute, a nonprofit that educates science, technology, engineering and mathematics elements to 100,000 children, teachers, parents and visitors annually via more than 60 marine and maritime history programs. The company has title-sponsored Ocean Institute's Maritime Festival from the event's beginnings in 1984. A Toshiba executive has also participated on Ocean Institute's Board of Directors since 2000.

In other news, Toshiba America Business Solutions helped raise $76,000 for Mitchell, South Dakota, nonprofit, the Sam Tronnes Memorial Foundation LLC. With support from its business partners and resellers, Toshiba has supported in providing more than $325,000 to advocate for veterans, youth education, and boys and girls hockey throughout Mitchell.
This year's donation is specifically enabling the Sam Tronnes Memorial Foundation LLC to sponsor the Mitchell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2750 in building an Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible restroom, which will be critical in ensuring that wounded or aging veterans can attend events at the veteran's association. The foundation is utilizing other money raised to provide scholarships to Mitchell High School graduating seniors and hockey equipment for area boys and girls through the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association.
The nonprofit will use further funds while collaborating with local grocery stores to provide dinner for up to 500 residents at the Mitchell Masonic Lodge on Dec. 25. The meal is open to anyone in the community, including those simply seeking company on Christmas Day.
