In Memoriam: Al Scibetta

Al Scibetta, president of BTA member Copier Fax Business Technologies, died on Jan. 2, 2022, after a brief illness. He was 72.

Scibetta co-founded Copier Fax Business Technologies with his wife, Andrea Scibetta, in 1990 as a Konica Minolta dealership. Over the past 30 years, the company has grown to more than 32 employees and has evolved as one of the top office technology providers in the region.

Scibetta was an icon in the office technology industry. He was a frequent guest speaker and presenter at Select Dealer Group conferences, Konica Minolta conferences and other related panels across the country. Additionally, under Scibetta's leadership, Copier Fax received a Konica Minolta Dealer Award of Excellence and several local recognitions for business growth, Best Places to Work and ranking as one of Buffalo, New York's, Top Private Companies.

Scibetta was known for his philanthropic work in the western New York community. This includes years of support for Summit Education Center, Buffalo Hospice, Roswell Park and Child & Family Services of Western New York.

Scibetta also served for several years on the Cardinal O'Hara Board of Directors.

In 1997, his son, David Scibetta, joined Copier Fax Business Technologies as a partner. Together with Andrea, the company grew to the full-service technology partner it is known as today.

Scibetta had very strong relationships with his employees, industry colleagues and clients, many of whom Scibetta considered friends. He made every person he met feel welcomed and always loved to share a good laugh.

Scibetta was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, but was especially known for his love of the New York Yankees. Scibetta also had a great love for Italian cooking and was famous for his homemade pizzas.

He also loved our country, having served in the United States Army, and was passionate about the success and well-being of all levels of government.

From all the great accomplishments and adventures in life, Scibetta's family was the root of his happiness. He is preceded in death by his business partner, travel companion and beloved wife of 27 years, Andrea, as well as his children David (Heather), Paul (Krissy), Angela, Anthony (Jessica) and George, as well as 11 grandchildren (and one on the way). Scibetta was a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend to many people.

A celebration of his life will be held later this year.
