GFI Digital Accelerates Growth With Three Strategic Acquisitions & Expansion Into New Markets
BTA member GFI Digital, a family owned company, is accelerating its growth strategy with three strategic acquisitions completed within a single week, expanding its customer base, capabilities, geographic footprint, and opportunities for employees and manufacturer partners.
Today, GFI Digital employs more than 460 people across five states — Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky and Arkansas — providing office technology, managed IT services, business phone systems and managed intelligence provider (MIP) solutions to organizations throughout its growing footprint.
The most significant market expansion is GFI Digital's acquisition of BTA member TDS IT, a provider of copier/MFPs, printers and managed technology services headquartered in Lowell, Arkansas, with an additional location in Little Rock. Founded in 1996 by Tim Stanley, TDS IT has built a strong reputation through longstanding customer relationships and a commitment to service excellence. The acquisition marks GFI Digital's entry into Arkansas and establishes a two-location presence serving businesses throughout northwest Arkansas and the Little Rock market, bringing experienced employees, an established customer base and decades of local industry expertise to the organization.
Stanley will remain with GFI Digital, continuing to serve customers throughout the region and helping lead the company's growth in the market. TDS IT customers will continue working with the people and teams they know while benefiting from the additional resources, technology capabilities and support available through GFI Digital.
GFI Digital's two other acquisitions completed during the same week further strengthen its capabilities and customer base. The company acquired Copyrite Imaging Solutions, a longtime Sharp dealer serving northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas since 1979. GFI Digital retained Copyrite's employees and its St. Joseph, Missouri, office, preserving the local relationships and service customers have relied on for decades.
GFI Digital also acquired iNSIGHT, in St. Louis, Missouri, adding more than 2,200 managed endpoints, approximately 100 customer accounts and 17 experienced technology professionals to its managed IT services division. The acquisition expands GFI Digital's technology capabilities while adding technical expertise, customer relationships and resources to support its expanding managed services business.
For GFI Digital, the three acquisitions represent more than an expansion of locations and customer accounts. Strategic acquisitions provide another avenue to strengthen the company's capabilities, reach new markets and create opportunities for employees, customers and manufacturer partners while bringing together organizations with shared values and a commitment to service excellence.
"For 27 years, we've built GFI Digital primarily through organic growth — earning customers one relationship at a time and developing our people along the way," said Bruce Gibbs, founder and CEO, GFI Digital. "We believe the time is right to add acquisitions as another avenue for growth. Completing three acquisitions in one week is a significant step for GFI Digital, but the opportunity is much bigger than simply adding locations or customers. These organizations bring great people, strong customer relationships and new opportunities for our employees and manufacturer partners to grow alongside us."
The acquisition strategy is complemented by continued investment in new markets. In June, GFI Digital opened a new branch in Louisville, Kentucky, establishing its first location in the state and creating additional opportunities for local sales, service, and customer support.
GFI Digital has also strengthened its leadership structure to support its continued expansion. Gibbs assumed the role of CEO, while several longtime GFI Digital leaders moved into expanded executive roles. Sarah Gibbs was promoted to COO, Corey Backues was named president of GFI Digital Print, Andrew Gilstrap was appointed president of technology, Sam Turner was promoted to vice president of technology, and Rob Goth was promoted to vice president, where he will focus on special projects, market expansion, sales leadership and company culture.
"As GFI Digital grows, we have an opportunity to give more people the chance to lead and build their careers," Gibbs said. "Our leadership structure is evolving alongside the company so we can support our employees, our customers and our partners as we continue to grow."
Across all three acquisitions, GFI Digital has remained focused on continuity and local relationships. Employees and local offices have been retained, allowing customers to continue working with familiar teams while gaining access to GFI Digital's broader technology portfolio, resources and manufacturer relationships.
Together, the three acquisitions strengthen GFI Digital's capabilities, expand its reach across five states and create new opportunities for employees, customers and manufacturer partners as the company continues building for the future.
