Canon U.S.A. Inc. has announced the U.S. unveiling of its next-generation B2+ sheetfed inkjet press, the varioPRESS iV7, at the thINK Ahead 2026 conference in Boca Raton, Florida. The event will mark the first installation and live demonstration of the varioPRESS iV7 in the United States, offering attendees an exclusive look at Canon's latest advancements in high-volume digital production.

Building on the announcement of the varioPRESS iV7 in May 2024, Canon's U.S. unveiling represents the next phase of the platform's global rollout, underscoring the company's continued investment in production inkjet innovation and its commitment to helping print service providers worldwide accelerate the transition from offset to digital.

This momentum follows a successful European showcase at Canon's Power to Move event, held June 16-17, 2026, at the Canon Customer Experience Center in Venlo, the Netherlands. Demonstrated to close to 300 attendees from 27 countries in the EMEA region, the varioPRESS iV7 received an enthusiastic reception for its high-volume performance, image quality and operational efficiency, reinforcing strong market interest across regions.

The varioPRESS iV7 is designed to deliver a powerful combination of productivity, print quality and operational efficiency for commercial printers, photobook production, direct mail providers and publishing environments. Having the flexibility to handle any size sheet from 13-by-19 inches up to an available 24.5-by-29.5-inch custom size option, the varioPRESS iV7 is designed to enable printers to maximize output economics such as enabling 6-up letter page impositioning on a 23-by-29-inch standard B2+ sheet size. Building on the foundation of the previous iteration, the new scanner delivers an upgraded performance, a more compact design and enhanced image processing features to help support modern document capture needs by offering an integration with Intuit QuickBooks Online. Designed to support accountants, bookkeepers, and small or medium-sized business owners with greater efficiency, the imageFORMULA R40II Receipt Edition is able to quickly convert paper documents into searchable digital files with the optical character recognition feature. Users can upload and extract data from scanned receipts and invoices directly to Intuit QuickBooks Online using the included CaptureOnTouch software. The imageFORMULA R40II Receipt Edition is designed to flexibly scan and convert a variety of document types including reports, contracts, photos, business cards, long documents and more.

The R40II Receipt Edition is designed to make receipt and document scanning quick and easy. Its compact size fits comfortably on a desk and setup is simple with the included USB-C cable. With the touch of a button, users can scan receipts and documents at speeds of up to 45 pages per minute (ppm). It scans both sides of a document in a single pass, while the automatic feeder holds up to 60 sheets, which allows users to scan larger batches without having to feed pages one at a time. For added convenience, customizable shortcut buttons help automate routine tasks, which can make every day scanning even faster and easier.

Keypoint Intelligence evaluated nearly 200 devices from various manufacturers over a five-year period, including a broad range of A3 and A4 systems, using a comprehensive testing methodology that measures energy consumption across real-world workflows. The evaluation considered factors such as power usage during print, sleep and recovery modes, as well as performance across a variety of document types and job conditions.

Canon's portfolio stood out for its combination of strong productivity and low overall energy consumption across tested devices. In total, 20 Canon devices were tested as part of the evaluation, including models from the imageFORCE, imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX and imageCLASS lines. According to Keypoint Intelligence, Canon's A3 and A4 systems demonstrated efficient power usage while maintaining fast print and recovery times, all key factors in high-volume office environments.
